Government guidelines and the NHS recommend that children over 5 and young people up to 17yrs old should be achieving at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
This could range from moderate type activities like cycling, or vigorous activities like sports e..g Rugby, football, Netball, Hockey. You can even achieve your levels thorough things like climbing trees, or riding a scooter or using playground equipment.
Research is looking at whether interactive gaming such as using Xbox kinetic or Wii games enable children to meet guidelines in other ways. Unfortunately current findings are contradictory and various factors influence outcomes. Therefore everyone should reduce the time they spend sitting watching TV, playing computer games and travelling by vehicles, where it is possible.

skipping and even tree climbing and swinging from trees (or monkey bars) can also be good! As long as done safely!

I agree with Hannah – about 60 minutes a day. This could be anything from walking to school, playing sports or just taking part in P.E. in school.
