• Question: If you had to explain the word "science" to an alien in less than 40 words, what would you say?

      wow this is such a cool and original question. OK here goes nothing:

      Science is an intellectual pursuit to understand (or understand better) how both the physical and natural world work through observation and experimental means. It is hypothesis driven and the hypothesis must be testable.

      sounds a bit textbook like but I think it says all it needs to.

      Haha – I’d logged off for the day but had to come back to answer this one.

      Hmm:

      ‘Science is about observing and manipulating the world to help us understand and improve it.’

      I’ll need the other words to persuade the alien not to abduct me.

      Interesting question!

      I think I would probably do a Big Bang Theory approach of communication and use lots of different means to express the concepts of science through sounds, videos and images as well as words like:

      ” science is about discovery and findings ways to work out answers to our questions to things around us which involves looking at behaviors, structures, reactions, responses using experiments and designs “
