• Question: Do you agree with people who say we will not find long lasting cures and treatment for illnesses?

      Thanks Holly. Not really, no! There are many illnesses that people thought could never be treated. For example, HIV less than 20 years ago would almost certainly have killed someone. Now we are at a stage where the disease can be treated and people can live with it, rather than die from it. Although we don’t have a cure yet, it’s not killing people at the same rate as it previously did.

      My own field is cancer, and lots of people are debating whether we will ever find a cure. And I said in another post, that I believe we can find more cures. But what’s important to note about cancer is that it’s not just a single disease, there are actually over 100 different kinds. So if we find a treatment for one of them, it might not work for all of them.

      I’m a positive person, and I think we can find long lasting cures and treatments for most illnesses. But we just need to work hard to find them!
